by far, the speaker that influenced me the most was Richard McLean. he was talking about his experience being homeless and how he was outraged that people didnt treat the homeless like humans. i agreed with him completely. too many times have i heard, "they did it to themselves", "they could get a job if they got off their asses and actually tried", or, the worst ive heard, "theyre just drug addicts with no hope, dont worry about them". this is one of my biggest pet peeves. people are people, no matter what theyre circumstance. dont go on about your civil rights, when you
so, im going to a TED conference, and im so stoked. i love TED videos.
the two groups that im most excited to see are the Unaccompanied Minors, an a cappella group, and H.E.L.P, three grade 11 guys who want to talk about the issue of homelessness in their neighbourhoods. i love to sing! i dont care what people think. im currently in my school's Concert Choir and Girl's Choir, and my church's youth worship band. i cant imagine living without music. i think i would die. as a matter of fact, my biggest dream is to sing for a living. i know its unrealistic, but i dont even care. i love performing and i love coming up with new melodies and harmonies. i dont know why, but the rush of standing infront of a crowd is nauseating, but so so addicting! id be ridiculously happy if i could one day headline my own tour. im notorious for belting out my favourite lyrics when im home alone. but hey, we all have our silly little habits (; i should have seen this coming from him. lesson learnt: trust no one with your heart. if i ever tell you that i love you as much as i love country music, you better be pretty proud of yourself.
